While we are setting up our new Minneapolis – St. Paul WordPress Website Design, Development and Support office, we continue to service clients in the Boston area. Today we’ve gone live with an insurance sales site. The first thing we did was implement one of the Kreisi.at themes, Enfold. Kreisi sells a ton of themes because of his packaged, importable demos, that give users a “complete ready to use site”. Of course, we do the same with our WordPress Website Models. As I’ve said elsewhere, the whole WordPress “theme” business is a bit of a racket. But that is another post that I’ll share in the Opinions category at MikeGriffin.me.
After we got the theme working with the imported site, the client wanted to change the domain name. The client opted to let Hostgator do the work but all they did was move the site into a new directory and point the new addon domain at it. They didn’t take care of making site https or updating all of the links to https in all the tables.
So, we added https. Then we used the Search and Replace Plugin to update all of the hard coded URLs. The client wanted a multipage “workflow” type quotation form so we added the Personal version of Formidable Forms and created that form as well as a new form they needed. Next we checked for mobile friendliness, fixed any glitches and implemented the Yoast SEO plugin. I thoroughly agree with the Forbes article, SEO 2017: 8 Crucial Rules For Dominating Google’s Search Results, so Yoast is a good plugin because it looks at content length.
All together, our work on the site was under 6 hours. That is fast!
