WordPress “Themes” More Often Mean Pre-built Dummy Websites

The vast majority of WordPress website owners, especially small business owners, don’t think of “themes” as ways to create the pages from data in the WordPress database. They think of themes in terms of what demo they can get with the theme. This is leading to the growth of a whole new “theme” industry. For instance, I just ran across The 7, a new “theme” that simply and unabashedly features Visual Composer with VC addons and 26 pre-made dummy sites, “The7 comes with 26 (and counting) pre-made dummy websites complete with exclusive Slider Revolution and Visual Composer templates. They all can be imported in a few clicks, mixed and matched to become a solid foundation for your site.” 

I have taken the same approach when up against a short deadline and a low budget. Last winter, I was approached to work as the subcontractor to build a re-election campaign site. I build Re-Elect Mark Paolillo in a few days because we bought Diplomat because it had a fully demo that we could important and customize. Easy! I mean, yes, it really was easy.

And that is why we offer our “Model Websites” to clients in Minneapolis St. Paul, Chicago and Boston. They are really just pre-built dummy websites. But we don’t use the difficult shortcode page builders that almost all of the other pre-built dummy website themes offer. We use Elementor, in our opinion, the best free open source page builder for WordPress websites. When we do the site construction, we include Elementor Pro, free of charge. 

We work anywhere. We are building a German website in English right now. But the majority of our customers are in Minneapolis – St. Paul, Boston and Chicago.
